The Gateway Gators celebrate Homecoming at Antimarino Stadium by erupting for 42 second-half points to secure a commanding 49-10 Big East Conference victory over the Connellsville Falcons.
Trailing 10-7 at halftime, Gateway completely flips the momentum in the third quarter behind freshman running back Ned Reid, who sparks the surge with two touchdown runs and an interception on defense. Sophomore quarterback Mayson Mitchell commands an explosive passing attack, connecting with senior tight end Kacey Carter for two second-half touchdown catches, hitting Jayden Stammer for a first-half touchdown strike, and throwing a long scoring pass to Daysaun Spencer.
Senior Julian Dancear caps off the Gators’ offensive display with a fourth-quarter touchdown run out of a direct snap, while senior linebacker Jakson Smith and the defense stifle Connellsville after the break, complemented by a fumble recovery from Kelin Lovelace.
Connellsville takes a brief 10-7 lead into the locker room thanks to senior standout Linkon Keller, who kicks a 43-yard field goal and catches a touchdown pass from quarterback Jeffrey Nicholson in the closing seconds of the second quarter. Keller also leads the Falcons’ defense alongside Tanner Johnson, who pulled down a first-half interception. However, Gateway’s physical second-half push, driven by backfield pressure from Khalid Harper, Dorian Bell, and Julius Clark, powers the Gators to a triumphant conference win on Homecoming night.
