The Gateway Gators kick off their season with a convincing 31-10 victory over the Kiski Area Cavaliers at Gateway High School.
Sophomore quarterback Mayson Mitchell commands the Gator offense with poise, throwing touchdown passes to senior Daysaun Spencer and junior Khalid Harper to build an early 17-0 lead, which is further extended by sophomore kicker Jackson Mikulandrich’s 40-yard field goal. After the Cavaliers pull within one score in the second half behind a Landyn Artman touchdown run, Gateway’s veteran leaders step up to regain control. Senior Kacy Carter scores a clutch fourth-down touchdown to cap off a physical drive, while freshman standout Ned Reed seals the game with a late touchdown catch-and-run.
On the defensive side, senior linebacker Jakson Smith and junior linebacker Michael Burrows spearhead a relentless attack that includes a late interception by sophomore safety Antonio Falo
